Elisabeth insisted on being Ariel. I wasn't going to do it until I realized that the leotard from her recital was the perfect bodice, that I had some great $1 fabric from Wal-mart for a tale, and that the extra layer in her tutu could make a fin. I'm not big on Ariel (body image & defiance issues), but I love being able to reuse stuff! Elisabeth is figuring out that if she persists long enough, she can get me to make any costume ; ) .
My mom got the awesome fabric for Benjo's handsome prince costume. I had to handstitch the sequin stuff that we used for chain mail (sp?). It broke my thread every time I tried to use the machine. My hand stitches broke on one side, so then I had to safety pin it on. No one noticed though, too busy looking at his beautiful face. He's such a heartbreaker!
So what do you think, are the boys identical? Their overall look is different, but I think it's mostly a function of headshape. As the firstborn, Sam was engaged in the birth canal for a while before they arrived (thus the more elongated head). Gabe was chillin' up top the whole time and flew out in one push, so he got to keep his wide forehead. What ever they are, they are beautiful and so much fun. Sam will be walking soon, and Gabe's working on sentences (though walking isn't too far away).

Your kids are beautiful! And those twins -- adorable! It's so great to see pictures again.
The twins look so big now! And they do look pretty identical to me. I totally understand the Ariel hesitations but Elisabeth is adorable as a mermaid.
I love your blog title and I love you.
They are just beautiful. We miss you guys so much. I think the boys look a lot alike. It will be fun to see what happens when they get older.
The kids look great! I know how difficult it is to sew on sequined fabric. Last year I made 2 mermaid costumes and both fins were out of sequined fabric. It is a PAIN! but they turned out really cute. I'm glad you got to be creative and reuse some stuff. That is the best when you can remodel something! Your kids are so big!!! I miss them! I can't believe the twins! They are so handsome! Glad to hear all is well!
Cute cute costumes! Good job making everything. You're so crafty and creative. Sam and Gabe are adorable! Thanks for explaining some small differences so we can try to tell them apart. I'm horrible at distinguishing identical twins apart. I just can't see it! =)
WEll I hope you're great! We miss you!
Hey Sarah,
This is Megan White from Wymount. The kids costumes were adorable. What an awesome, talented Mom you are for making their costumes. The twins are adorable. WOW! You really have your hands full. Hope all is well. Tell Ben Hi for us!
Boy, you guys make beautiful children! Happy Christmas season!
Oh man, seeing your blog really made me miss you guys. Henry and Elisabeth were such great friends! E and B both look so grown up and so beautiful in their picture. I think that is one of the best mermaid costumes I've seen. And a great prince costume. Henry and Wes were Robin Hood and Little John this year (I've yet to get the pictures up on our blog.) Unfortunately, my costumes get simpler and a little sloppier every year--at least they don't know the difference.
Your twins are so big--I can hardly believe it's been that long. Merry Christmas!!
They look identical to me!
You two have beautiful children. Are you sick of hearing that yet? lol
